If we put it in simple words, setting up an IP Camera for remote viewing need network enabled camera, network and internet connected remote device for  viewing. Your camera connects to your network through the router and make it available online for it to be viewed using its IP address. Each network camera is just like a computer with its own CPU and memory. It process images from CCD (Charge-coupled Device) or CMOS (Complementary Metal-oxide Semiconductor) sensors, send to client or configured device (e.g. apps) and hosts a web server. Cameras can be connected to network using WiFi or Ethernet cable. Remember that each camera have to have a unique IP camera address, so that you can find it over network and then view it and to be managed on the Internet by end user.
CCTV cameras can get their IP addresses on the local network. You may connect the camera with a router or an NVR, both of which use DHCP function of networking protocol to automatically assign an IP camera addresses to the camera.
First process is discovering the IP address of your IP camera is the first step. To do so, use the Reolink camera app( always use Reolink applications for better experience). Then This IP address is pinged and the router tries to establish connection with camera. Then your camera can be made visible on other devices using the web host address or the IP address. So primarily it is the IP address
that enables your camera to detected on remote devices for  viewing.
