What to do when your Reolink NVR is not working

 

Reolink NVR works just fine but like any other electronic equipment problem can occur like any other brand Nvr, however Reolink NVR issues can be solved quickly by following these easy to follow steps. Reolink NVR usually works well when Reolink camera setup is done properly and the end user keep the device updated. Below are few common Reolink NVR issues and you can try these steps to resolve the NVR issues. If your issue is not covered under this article please contact Reolink support for more help. 

Reolink NVR issues and the fix explained below:

1: No video output to the monitor/TV

When your are not getting video on the monitor from your linked Reolink Nvr, check for the LAN port functionality first and see if the light stays lit. If light is off,it could be the Reolink NVR firmware issue and try to upgrade the firmware and see if it works. Also check for the Power on the NVR to see whether the Led on the DC adapter stays on. If not,the DC Adapter is faulty and get it replaced.
When you find that the LAN port and power adapter is good, try rebooting your NVR and if problem persist, try Reolink nvr full reset and check. If issue persist, Contact Reolink support for device help.

2: NVR Hard drive Error 

 If your Reolink NVR had stopped recording or playback and the HDD status is  showing Error, try the troubleshooting tips below to fix the Reolink NVR problem.
First open your Reolink NVR and check to see if the HDD cables are loose, unplug and replug the hdd cable properly and check, You can also replace the hdd easily on your Reolink NVR and if the device is in warranty contact Reolink support

3: No Video on live view via web browser

This is a common issue, the video will not display in the Live View page when using browser to access Reolink NVR. Please try these troubleshooting steps below to fix the reolink nvr  problems.
First you need to check the flash plugin in your web browser as it requires the flash plugin for video streaming.( As per Reolink technical update for models RLN8-410 and RLN16-410, you can only access them via IE internet explorer browser. For Reolink 4K NVR (model RLN8-410-E), you can access live streaming via other browsers as well). Also make sure you run the browser with admin rights.
Also check the network connection for Reolink camera or NVR and the PC. If the network connection is not stable and smooth, the stream may not show on the browser. Live streaming needs a good and stable internet connection.

4: Incorrect camera resolution on Reolink PoE NVR

If your Reolink camera is indicated as 4MP on the live-view page or there's no 2560*1920 (5MP) option while adjusting resolution on Reolink PoE NVR, it is primarily due to out dated NVR's firmware. Update your Reolink NVR firmware with this link. NVR firmware can show other instability issues as well when it is out dated.

5: When you Fail to remotely access Reolink NVR 

This is another common issue most users get stuck with and it is easy to fix with below steps
Check if you are not able to remotely access your Reolink NVR on both Reolink App and Reolink Client.
If you can access your NVR or cameras locally, go to the Device Settings -> Network Advanced, and make sure UID Enable option is checked adn see if this fixes the problem.
If you cannot access nvr locally make sure to check the internet connection settings are in place and you can also try to reset NVR settings by going to Menu -> System -> Maintenance, and restore the NVR settings.

6: No Sound via Reolink NVR

For no sound via Reolink NVR, Make sure the speaker connected to the Audio Out jack of the NVR is a working speaker and tested on other device. The USB cable of the speaker should be plugged into the USB port of the NVR for power.
Go to Menu->Display->Output, make sure the audio output of the NVR is enabled by clicking in the box next to audio option in menu. Also click on Recording on the menu bar to choose the channels for the cameras. Under encode option you will see the option for record audio, click in the box next to it to enable it and see if the issues gets resolved. Try for firmware update if available and in case the Reolink NVR problem persist, reach Reolink support for help.

7: Video Loss in Reolink PoE NVR

There could be several reasons for the Video Loss in Reolink NVR Client. Please follow the troubleshooting tips listed below to resolve this issue.
First you should try rebooting Reolink NVR and see if the problem gets fixed. 
If the issue is with one of the cameras then try this step. First go to Menu -> IP Channel to check the Status of the channel/camera with Video Loss. If it shows Invalid PWD, enter the correct password of your camera, then click Apply to save the change and see if problem is fixed.
Sometimes your device status shows offline, to fix this try to connect the camera to other ports on the NVR that work or use another Ethernet cable to to rule out cable issues. There is a possibility of camera malfunction as well so try to reset reolink camera which is not showing video.
